DGCA postpones resumption of scheduled international flights from December 15 : The Tribune India

The authorities on Wednesday determined not to resume scheduled global flights from December 15, much less than a week soon after asserting the selection in the wake of increasing fears around the COVID variant Omicron.

Aviation watchdog DGCA claimed the successful day for resumption of scheduled business intercontinental passenger companies will be notified in due system. Scheduled intercontinental flights remain suspended because March 23, 2020, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.

The most recent shift also comes right after Key Minister Narendra Modi on November 27 requested officials to assessment the plans for easing worldwide journey limitations amid concerns above Omicron.

In a circular on Wednesday, DGCA said that in perspective of the evolving world circumstance with the emergence of new Variants of Worry, the situation is getting watched intently in session with all stakeholders.

Even though no conditions of Omicron have been described in India so significantly, the authorities have place in put stricter norms for international travellers.

On November 29, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia mentioned the situation was becoming carefully monitored and reviewed in session with other ministries with regards to “any further selection” on resuming scheduled global passenger companies.

In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Scindia had explained the choice to resume the flights from December 15 was taken following recognising the greater vaccination coverage across the world, altering character of the pandemic and taking into consideration the wellbeing protocols, which have been set in place for worldwide arrivals.
